Review: Aposon 0990 - Green Sport Watch

My husband has never been one to wear jewelry. It gets in the way when he is working - fixing airplanes. However, he does not have a cellphone/smartphone (nor do I) and I thought he might like an easier way to keep an eye on the time. So, I got him the Aposon 0990 - Green Sport Watch.
When he opened the box and saw the contents when it arrived, he was excited. It looked awesome and durable.
While he might not be able to wear it on his wrist at work, he could tuck it into his pocket. Since he is also around various fluids, it being water-resistant was a plus.
Not only did the watch give my husband the time of day, but he could use it as a stopwatch when he went to the gym. It also came with a calendar day display, alarm and LED backlight. How could this go wrong?
Well, let me tell you. He wore this for about a week before the clasp broke. Before going to work, he picked it up to put it on and as he wrapped it around his wrist, a piece of the clasp popped off. Needless to say, he was not incredibly happy. Fortunately, he is a handy man and said he would be able to fix it - all he has to do it pop it back into place and rig it so it does not break again.
I am glad that he is willing to still wear it after he fixes it. I, however, am disappointed that it would break so soon.

Review: Kitchen Essentials Silicone Egg Poachers

I have never successfully poached an egg. I would try and the eggs were always dripping wet from the water and it would gross me out. I found it frustrating because I do love poached eggs and would order them at restaurants. It was just my replication of poached eggs that would consistently fail. I did not know there was such a thing as an egg poacher, so when I found out about this, I had to give it a try. I was determined to complete my quest of a successful poached egg.
And I finally did it! Warm fuzzy for me! The eggs were perfect! Even my daughter enjoyed the results.
The fact that I was able to do that is the best thing about these egg poachers. The next best thing is that it is incredibly easy to use. I just sprayed the inside with non-stick spray before putting the egg inside and then turned it upside down onto the plate once it was done. The egg fell right out. The best thing after that? Easy clean up. Just pop these babies in the dishwasher and they come out clean. I also love the colors - very vibrant. I think it is because of the colors that my daughter is eager to use them, as well. Recommended.

Review: 100 Naturals Mind Rite

I recently received another opportunity to review a brain supplement. I love trying out different versions, so I can find the one that helps my brain work at its optimal level.
When I first began taking 100 Naturals Mind Rite, I did not notice anything right away. It took about a week for any
effects to take hold. Then, the effects were gradual. They grew a little bit every day until two days ago. My clarity and focus do not seem to have improved in these last two days, so I think I have peaked.
I have been able to get a lot of stuff done during these past two days. There have been no problems with memory or focus. Holding a conversation has been easy. I have not stumbled my words or fretted over what to say next. This is not a "Limitless" pill by any means, but it sure is working for me. And it has natural ingredients, such as ginkgo biloba and St. John's wort. No chemicals involved with this one. Recommended.

Review: WooBamboo Toothbrush

I like to change my toothbrush about every four to five months. Because after that long, they have a tendency to get a little rugged. The bristles get a little worn. I am interested to see how well my new WooBamboo Toothbrush holds up.
This is a good toothbrush to implement into your household if you are green or in the process of going green. The handle is made of biodegrabable, sustainably-grown bamboo. So,
after you get done with this toothbrush, you will not have to worry about it cluttering up another landfill.
Even though it is not made of the standard plastic that most toothbrushes are, it has stood up to the rigorous testing during the past week and a half. The bristles are still doing their job and are easy to clean. Little bits of toothpaste has not sunk into or stuck to the handle. That was a concern I had about a bamboo handle - would toothpaste get into any crevices and then be a pain to clean? Nope.
The handle is very comfortable to hold, fitting easily into your hand and it is very smooth. The only complaint I have with this toothbrush is that it doesn't have the bristles that you find on the more expensive toothbrushes - you know, the ones that go every which way in order to reach every space in your mouth. Other than that, it is not a bad brush. Recommended.

Review: Boldleads Reviews Ways to Growth Hack Real Estate

If you are looking for a book with detailed instructions on how to make a buck in real estate, stop right now. You will not find it here.
The Boldleads Reviews Ways to Growth Hack Real Estate does however, offer you a decent enough 22-page read with decent information. But, that information is by no means detailed or step-by-step. How can it be with 22 pages? In addition, the print is exceptionally large when compared to other books. That does not leave much opportunity to learn a lot.

My husband and I have talked occasionally about real estate (possibly going in to real estate). I was hoping this book would be able to give us a better idea whether or not to pursue it. Unfortunately, it did not. It does have good tips you can use when talking to clients, internet pages to utilize and conducting research. However, it is incredibly vague when it comes to understanding the mindsets of buyers and sellers. It tells you to get an understanding, but it does not tell you different strategies to do that.
The same applies to its section of adopting the ideal mindset for yourself. The book states that successful real estate agents are go-getters. Makes sense, but no strategies are included to help you get that mindset.
This is a quick read that I would recommend if you are looking to kill a few minutes and have a budding curiosity in real estate. I would not recommend it if you are even semi-serious about real estate.

Review: Karl Jobst, D.D.S. Activity Book for Kids

If you have younger children, you know how valuable activity books can be - especially during quiet time or waiting periods. I take comfort knowing that my daughter can always (well, for 30 minutes, at least) be entertained with a simple activity book and some Crayons or markers.
I received the Karl Jobst, D.D.S. Activity Book for
Kids knowing she would love it. Now, I am not so sure. The little girl on the cover that is brushing her teeth is cute enough, but I do not think it is going to inspire B too much, because frankly, it looks like the cover of dental hygiene brochure for kids. Chances are, she will give it a quick glance and eagerly open the cover.
The activity book is not very thick at all. There is a total of 12 activities for kids to do: seven pictures to color, two mazes, one Tooth Fairy letter to write, one word search and one crossword. The ink and the lines are also inconsistent throughout the book. A couple of pages (the back two) clearly have faded lines. Some of the coloring pictures have clear, thick lines and others have very thin lines. I do not think it is a matter of different artists, either, because this little Tooth Fairy tooth shows up on the first ten pages, but not the last two (with the faded lines). At the top of one page is the all-too-familiar
NAME: ______________ DATE: ________________, but it does not show up on any other pages.

Will this book serve it's purpose? Yes. But, as far as quality goes, it severely lacks.

Renewed Experience: An Audition

In my childhood and teenage years, I would eagerly audition for any play that I could. I auditioned for two in elementary and got placed in both. When I got to high school, I made the musical my senior year (I have a theory why I did not get into any plays my freshman, sophomore and senior years, but that is for another time and place).
A friend of mine here in Marshall is a board member of the Marshall Area Stage Company, so I've been getting notifications about auditions for various performances. I decided to go to one on Saturday, accompanied by my friend and my daughter. While my friend was not going to audition (he was there for moral support), my daughter was eager to try it for the first time.
The name of the play? The Addams Family: A New Musical. I would watch the show occasionally in my childhood, but I was a fan of the movies. My daughter loves the movies, so that increased her excitement.
I watched with pride as B read the lines of Wednesday and proceeded to sing. I was so proud of her! She even got some laughs from the minimal audience in the room (about 10 people). One person told her it was impressive how B managed to calm her nerves and do the best job she could. As a result, she got a part - Addams Ancestor Lori Bruns! Of course, it is not a big part, but it is still a part! I told her the news this morning and she couldn't have been happier.
As for my audition, I felt fine reading the lines of Grandma, but when I had to sing a song belonging to Morticia, I felt my stomach clench. Do you know how long it has been since I sang from sheet music? A long ass time! I lost my place a couple of times and I think I sounded fine, but people in the audience might have had a different opinion.
Finally, there was a dance section of the audition. My knees were protesting during the lunging moves that were choreographed, but I struggled through it. B did wonderful, even though she fell at one point. She picked herself up and continued dancing, though.
How did I do? I got the part of Addams Ancestor Kyalin Garside. So, we both got minor ancestor parts together! I cannot wait to see the costumes. I want to see B in hers. I want to see her in her stage makeup. I cannot wait for both of us to get integrated into this section of the community and experience something new!

Review: Fox Kitchen's Steel Tea Infuser and Tea Scoop

The last tea infuser I had, I gave to my mother-in-law because she is a big tea drinker. But, then I had to temporarily quit drinking my loose tea because I no longer had an infuser. Luckily, I got another one. In fact, I got two from Fox Kitchen. One is big enough for a tea kettle, the other is small enough for a coffee cup.

And it came with a handy-dandy tea scoop. All of these tea tools are made of stainless steel, so they look simple yet stylish. And I will not have to worry about them breaking anytime soon. They are also dishwasher safe, so I don't need to worry about scrubbing them by hand.
The kettle infuser is smartly made. It is not clunky, but the handle is big enough for you to grab and lift it out of the kettle. The holes are small enough to not let any tea fall through and into your water. I am grateful for that, because I am not a fan of drinking leaves. The cup infuser comes with an attached chain, so you don't have to fish around in your cup with a spoon to get it out. Again, the holes are plenty small.
The scoop can be deceitful. If you are a pro at drinking loose tea, it will be easy for you to determine how much to add to your infusers. If you are not a pro, I suggest start with little and build it from there. I learned that the hard way. The first cup I made was so strong, I was unable to finish it.
Other than that little unfortunate experience (brought on by my ignorance, not product failure), this is a delightful pack. Recommended.

Review: Joyal Beauty's Rosewater

I was not into skin care when I was younger, unfortunately. Now, I consistently worry about the repercussions of my lack of care on my epidermis. So, I routinely try different skin care products - masks, exfoliates, lotions, etc., which led me to try Joyal Beauty's Rosewater.

This is 100 percent rosewater steam distilled from Rosa Damascena - a type of rose considered to be the finest in the world. At least, according to what is printed on the bottle. The Rosewater hydrates and nourishes your skin and hair.
To test the scent, I sprayed a small amount on my forearm. Rose heaven! At least to me. I asked my husband to take a whiff. He had a different opinion on what it smelled like. According to Tony, it smelled like the inside of an open beer bottle that had been left out overnight. I think it is safe to say that it is not his favorite scent.
But, that has not prevented me from using it after I wash my face. I spray it on for extra hydration and then I apply some lotion. I have only used it on my hair once. As I have a lot of hair, I don't want to do it too much - I will go through the bottle quickly if I use it on my hair a lot. But, I noticed some added silkiness. If I had more of it, it would be a regular addition to my hair care.
   Recommended.

Review: Diamond Elite's Focus Matrix

I can always use help with my memory. In these recent years, I have noticed my memory has been dwindling. I carry a lot of memories from childhood and my teenage years, but occasionally I forget why I got up from a chair and walk into another room. That is normal, I am sure, but it is also annoying.

In an effort to boost my memory, I took Diamond Elite's Focus Matrix. After about a week, I have noticed a little improvement in my memory. Thus, I know it is working. I love that this supplement uses natural ingredients. Ginkgo biloba is present, as well as St. John's wort. Now, ginkgo biloba is renowned for it's ability to increase your memory capacity. St. John's wort is wonderful to use for depression. Am I depressed? Nope, but I figure it can't hurt to take a little bit of it. A family member of mine took it for years with no side effects.
I have also noticed that my brain is functioning more efficiently when my blood sugar is too high. Normally, my brain becomes very cloudy when my blood sugar is high. Since taking this, my brain still gets a little cloudy, but it certainly is not as prominent.
   I recommend this product.

Review: Diamond Elite's Garcinia Cambogia

No doubt many of you have already figured out my love of garcinia cambogia (GC). Some GC supplements are awesome and some are not as great.
Unfortunately, Diamond Elite's Garcinia Cambogia fits into the "not so great" column. Since I began taking this
supplement, I have not noticed any weight loss or increase in energy. As many of you know, garcinia cambogia is supposed to be a weight loss aid. It is supposed to boost your metabolism and energy levels. I have not seen either, which is disappointing.
I have had great success with garcinia cambogia in the past, so I was hoping that would continue. Now, maybe I've just reached a weight loss plateau and not even GC can get me over it, but I don't think so. In the past, I also noticed an appetite reduction when I took GC and my appetite is quite healthy, to say the least.
There are many other GC products you can try.

Review: Diamond Elite's Tumeric Curcuma Complex

Not until recently did I discover the benefits of turmeric. I had an illness that sent my blood sugars on a crazy run. As a result, I was feeling terrible. My mother-in-law came to our house to stay with me while I got better and she made me a meal with plenty of turmeric added. Shortly after, I noticed that I felt uplifted. I mentioned it to her and she told me it
was the turmeric.
I looked for a supplement and found this one - Diamond Elite's Tumeric Curcuma (I assure you that is not a typo). This supplement supports the health of your immune system, detoxes your body and gives you a strong antioxidant boost. All that just gives you a better physical feeling overall.
After taking it for a week, I noticed my general mood has improved, even though there is nothing in there that claims to elevate moods. I chalk it up to I just feel better. This is a supplement that I will continue taking - good health and bad health. I see no downfall to this one.

Review: Groza Learning Center Roots Booster

As a former journalist and a current author, words have always been very important to me. They allow me to express ideas, feelings and explain situations. It is also dear to me that I pass on the importance of words to my children.

While they both might be too young for the Roots Booster, I know they will benefit from it as they grow older and their vocabulary expands. My daughter took a look at this learning book, and while she did not understand it, she expressed interest in spending more time with it. After all, her vocabulary has not yet reached the level of "euphemism" or "autodidact." But, I know this book will help her on her journey.
I love that answers to the quizzes are provided in the back of the book, because (and it kills my pride to say this), there were some words with which I was not familiar. I had to look in the back at the answers. I am hoping that will encourage my daughter - not even Mama knows all these words.
This book is better equipped to aid students in middle school and high school, especially when they learn about breaking words down to their roots, which is what this learning tool is really all about. I do recommend this.

Review: Ready. Chef. Go! Cooking Bags

I love steaming food! To me, it seems like a healthier alternative. However, recently my steaming pot broke and I have just been SOL when it came to steaming.
But, I decided to give Ready. Chef. Go! Cooking Bags a try. At first, I was hesitant. I have never used a steam bag before. I liked that there were instructions on the bag for either the microwave and the oven. I opted for the microwave. So, for my lunch, I got a potato, cut it into large chunks and prepared an olive oil seasoning to pour into the bag.
I cooked it in the microwave on high heat for 3 minutes to perfect potato tenderness. The chunks were not mushy and had a pleasant amount of firmness. As it was cooking, I watched the bag puff up and was waiting for the seal to explode, but it never did. When I took the bag out the microwave, I held it by one corner and waited for the olive oil mixture to drip out of the bottom. It never did. There was zero cleanup for me to do! Score. MAJOR SCORE!

The package of bags also comes with some recipes to try. I am eager to try out seafood in these bags and utilize one of the recipes I found included. This is a big recommendation to any cook!

Review: Corpina Nutrition's Phosphatidyl Choline

I am always looking for products that will amp up my brain power. I have always been intelligent, but my memory has not always been great. Especially in the last few years. I think the numerous insulin reactions I have had in my lifetime has had a negative effect on my brain.

Regardless, I tried this Phosphatidyl Choline to see if my memory would get a boost. There were no noticeable difference during the first three days. On day four, however, I noticed that I was forgetting less and less. It became easier for me to remember phone numbers I had to call, tasks I had to do and appointments I had to keep. I could also remember why I got up from the chair and walked into the next room.
Now, in case you are curious as to what phosphatidyl choline is: it a naturally occurring molecule made of phosphoric acid, choline and hydrocarbon. It is a lipid that helps form structural elements of cell membranes. This explanation came from the bottle. :) So, it's not some weird chemical supplement concocted in a laboratory. I would recommend this.

Review: Marathon Pain Relief

As you get older, your joints have a tendency to ache. A lot of it depends on how well you took care of yourself when you were younger and how well you are taking care of yourself now. Well, unfortunately for me, I was not into good health when I was young. Now, my knees are paying the price - as well as my back.

But, I do not want to spend a whole bunch of time and money taking prescription medications and ointments. Yes, they work, but what complete price am I paying? Weird side effects? Addiction? No thanks. I wanted to give Marathon Pain Relief topical analgesic a try. It soothes sore muscles and joints, arthritis, sprains and strains and simple back aches. Now, the tube comes with the word "natural" on it, but after reading the ingredients, I kind of wonder. There are some ingredients that require some tongue acrobatics.
The scent of it is not exactly pleasant, but it is not overwhelming. A great thing - it is not greasy at all. I rubbed it into my knee and I could not tell three minutes later. Other topical analgesics tend to leave a greasy residue on your skin. It also took some of my pain, not all of it, but some of it. It's not enough to make me do Zumba, but it's enough to help me go from sitting to standing without wincing.

Review: Evino Shatterproof Wine Glasses

When you have kids, you need to keep an eye on your drinkware. They can break easily, especially when the drinkware is not ones normally used by kids. You know - they want it because they never get to use it. So, they wait until
your back is turned and CRASH!! There goes that wine glass.
My husband and I have been trying to get a complete bar set. We have tumblers, shot glasses, champagne flutes and goblets. We were missing wine glasses until recently when I got a set of four Evino Shatterproof Wine Glasses.
They are not kidding when they say shatterproof, either. Now, of course these are not made of glass. They are plastic, but you honestly cannot tell until you pick it up. We held them above our heads and dropped them on the kitchen floor. Not a single crack or chip. We then gave the glasses the kid test. My daughter actually threw it to the floor. Again, no damage.
These are now sitting on our bar, looking just as lovely as the rest of our drinkware. Each glass holds 16 ounces of fluid. Another perk? They are dishwasher safe, which is awesome, because I hate washing dishes.
   I do recommend these.
